In our continual effort to improve the Take It Easel, we have made a major modification to the easel's adjustment mechanism, as well as a few other notable changes.
Adjustment Mechanism:
The images below show both the old (left) and new (right) adjustment mechanisms. The new mechanism is much simpler, reducing the possibility for malfunction. The new internal spring mechanism is made from case-hardened stainless steel, and the knob is custom-designed and milled from solid brass.
The two video clips below further illustrate how the mechanisms function…there is much less room for mechanical error or malfunction with the new mechanism.
The four images below display the "Tobin Hole." The Tobin Hole was invented by Eric Tobin, a well know Vermont Landscape Artist. The Tobin Hole has been made popular both by Eric Tobin and by Stapleton Kearns, and is included as part of the Stapleton Kearns Signature Model. This hole is attached to the rear leg of the Take It Easel, and allows for painting even larger, and with your painting surface at less of a forward angle. This feature adds negligible weight, and as the first picture illustrates, it doesn't take up any extra space when your easel is closed for storage or travel. The last photo demonstrates the extra height and vertical angle you gain with the Stapleton Kearns Signature Model of the Take It Easel!
Other Notable Changes:
1. In former iterations of the Gloucester and TakeItEasel, when set up, the brass slideswere always covering two of the canvas-support peg holes in the front legs. The latest iteration of the TakeItEasel prevents any hole from ever being blocked, increasing your options for peg locations.
2. The front legs can now be extended 2 inches longer than previously, and the back leg can be extended 1 inch longer, increasing the total height when your easel is fully extended.
3. Your easel is now a half inch shorter in it's collapsed position, and the shoulder strap is an inch lower, so when the easel is over your shoulder you'll have an extra 1.5" of clearance from the ground!
